Read the Mayor's Call to Action!
MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY
Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa has made a Call-to-Action to all Angelenos to work together to ensure a complete and accurate Census count in 2010. The City of Los Angeles, through the Office of Census 2010, is launching a citywide educational and community outreach campaign.
We need a massive network of volunteers to become a part of this campaign. From major celebrities to philanthropic leaders to captains of industry, volunteers from all corners of Los Angeles are collaborating with the City to make a difference.
The Office of Census 2010 is also coordinating Regional Complete Count Committees (CCCs). These committees are teams of trusted and respected leaders from different parts of the community, government agencies, non-profit groups, faith-based organizations, businesses, and labor unions. The Regional CCCs will work side-by-side with the Office of Census 2010, Council members, other elected officials, and the City’s network of private-sector partners.
We are focusing on three regions in the City: Valley, Central/East, and West/South/Harbor. Each Regional CCC will cover 5 City Council districts and will develop and implement a plan designed to target the unique characteristics of their regions.
Every region is different. That’s why we are working with local community leaders who understand the best strategies to reach hard-to-count communities through established networks, members and volunteers.
